Mark Wilf: Vikings still assessing Favre situation
MARSHALL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings president Mark Wilf says the team is still interested in Brett Favre.
Wilf says the Vikings are assessing “a variety of factors” about the supposedly retired quarterback as they do with all free agents. But Wilf says he’s “not aware of any meeting” in the past between team officials and Favre.
The Vikings executive spoke to reporters Monday morning during a community visit to the southwest Minnesota town of Marshall.

This article is about the Vike's assements in hopes of obtaining one of the best quarterbacks in history, please don't forget about Brett's accomplishments not to mention MVP how many times ? yeh thought so. Ya see the biggest loser's are Thompson and McCarthy, in which this team can do without. Ever since they dumpt on Brett this team has gone nowhere. I would love to see Brett come back and rub their nose's in the turf, Thompson and McCarthy deserve it !

Hey there packerfan~ tara is almost right on tee here, Ted Thompson and Head Coach McCarthy won't just let Favre retire in the fact they rushed his decision by a year and then TRADED HIM FOR NOTHING (if he wasn't a threat then why all the hubub bub?) I think that he will make his start against the Packers in Green Bay, WIN and then retire...........Only after stuffing it down McCarthys throat!!! After all he said Favre didn't have that fire anymore....... Teddy and Mike McCarthy may as well go to the Lions, that way they have an excuse to lose.......... Goodnight!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why so divisive? It is possible to like Favre and still be a raving Packer Fan....yes he has "issues" with quitting the game, I think he just wants no regrets and play as long as he can....nobody gave more to the Packers and fans then Brett Favre....Thompson is the problem, as his goal was to force him out, and notice how that wienie never stands up and backs up himself in public....Love the PACK, even if Brett plays in Minnesota for a year....that would make for some theatre (GB/Minn games)though, I will say that

The whole situation is comical. Let him play I say, Let him make a complete "blank" out of himself again. I like watching the train wreck/bipolar megalomaniac in action. Packers will tee off on the guy and guessing they'll never retire his number in Green Bay if he signs with the Queens. For those that think it’s bad to comment about Brett in a negative way. How do you figure. Live by the sword and die by the sword. He thrived on the media attention and should expect the circus to continue.

Ok.. Vote time...
Who are the "Packer" fans???
Who are the "Favre" fans???.
How are football Fans (in general)???
I am..
I have been a Packer fan long before this crap started and I will be Packer fan long after it ends.. (yes there will be an end).. I have been through the "Lean Years" with Dickey, Wright, and countless other QB's ,, I seen my share of TERRIBLE seasons (to the point that they should have sold the team to someone, just to get them out of Wisconsin), People (reporter, readers, players and management) are just trying to keep the Football season going 52 weeks a year,, and with stories like these floating around, they are feeding the frenzy... Is Favre retired??, Is football going to go on with out him??? Can everybody survive with out all this crap?? 2 of 3 answers are YES.. You guess which one....

The Vikings are trying to sell tickets so the city will build them a new stadium. They are in dire need of publicity.
Favre, the consummate media whore and spotlight junkie, can deliver that to the Vikings.
Sounds like a marriage made in heaven.

For at least a couple of years prior to his supposed retirement the media spent the entire off season doing the will he won’t speculation. He of course kept it going long enough to avoid the mini-camps he apparently so dislikes. When he finally made the decision to retired from the Packers he sat at the media conference and cried, after which he proceeded to go on the talk show circuit answering all questions with “What part of I’m retired don’t you people understand!” The Packers waited and after a ‘cooling off period’ offered him his position back which he declined. The Packers made Aaron Rogers their starting quarterback, and apparently that light a fire under Mr. Favre who realized that the team would and could go on without him. Oh no, they can survive without me, I want to come back – TOO LATE!! After much complaining to the media about the team and how Wisconsin / Green Bay fans never treated him right he ends up with another team. Apparently New York fans are not nearly as supportive or appreciative as the Green Bay fans because it only took one season for him to quit (I mean retire) again! Now it all starts over; he’s retired, he wants to come back, and on it goes!
If you look at his record in dome stadiums, especially Minnesota, who knows why they want him other than the media hype he brings. Sounds to me like someone trying to hold onto a dream that has already past them by. Not to mention losing any remaining respect he may have held on to. If you listen to the talking head on ESPN he has become nothing more than a joke… When all his records put him in the hall of fame it will be with a * by his name stating “the man who didn’t know when to leave and kept coming back, and back, and back…” Enough, be a stand up person and stand behind your words and retire already!

Why would the Vikings care about Packer Fans?

More than likely the Packers told Favre he wouldn't be able to secure a starting position on the Packers and strongly suggested he retire. Then after all the drama, they traded him to the Jets.
Don't you think that the Vikings are doing all this publicity just to egg on Packer Fans. It's working. Favre hasn't said anything. Other than he's staying retired. So, until something comes out of the horses mouth this subject should be closed.

You people that "SAY" you have lost respect for someone doesn't know the meaning of the word! And by the way,who really cares about who you respect,as if your statement means anything to anyone. I don't respect you for the statement of the lack of respect. Think about it,who cares. GO FAVRE!!!
