MILWAUKEE (AP) — State health officials say the number of probable cases of swine flu in Wisconsin grew to 66 by Sunday afternoon, and Milwaukee city officials closed more schools in the district.

The number of confirmed cases in Wisconsin remained at three: two in Milwaukee County and one in Adams County.

Milwaukee officials said they weren’t closing the entire school district, but the list of closed schools numbered more than 20 by Sunday evening. City Health Commissioner Bevan Baker said officials will monitor the situation and in six days re-evaluate whether to reopen those schools.

The state says there were 19 probable cases of swine flu in Milwaukee County by Sunday afternoon. But Milwaukee officials say the number in the city was much higher.

This ticks me off. The CDC says to STAY HOME if you suspect you are ill. But no, people have to have this confirmed and expose everyone along the way. Sad the the stupid people are going to get us all sick now.

werpknarly, Mexico's health system ranks behind the United States, but not by a lot. It's still in the top third of all countries.
.
Health experts currently believe that the high rate of mortality in Mexico is largely due to non-reporting of most milder cases, whereas developed countries like the US have a much more rigorous reporting system. Another factor is that the Mexican government initially misunderstood the significance of the virus and it was allowed to circulate for weeks without a response. Thus many people did not see doctors until they had already been sick for several days. Since the more aggressive response, the death toll has dropped (proving the importance of publicity in controlling epidemics).

my guess its that it affects those the most in a polluted city with poor water and heath care... i hear that since they have shut down the factories in mexico city, the sky is almost blue again. Much of the citizens only get water from a truck once a week, if it shows up.

All schools are still open other than Milton High School. The high school is closed until Tuesday and this includes all activities. No hot lunches will be served for the lower grades K-8 at all the other schools.

The Superintendent did state via voice message that if any children are called in sick for grades K-8, this would not be counted against them. After we received the call for our high school student, all our other children are staying home until Tuesday.

Are they going to close the grade school also? I think they should just because there are so many kids who have older brothers and sisters in the high school.
They have just as much contact with them as the high school kids to each other.
I know my kids will not attend school at any level.
The schools will not let the bus rideing childern stand outside to get the buses when it rains a little bit but they will have school when this is in the community??

Anyone know the age group that seems to be affected by this swine flu? Old? Young? Immuno-suppressed patients?

As transformer07 wrote, WASH YOUR HANDS. Washing one's hands is extremely important.
We touch so many objects that may be contaminated and we don't even realize it. Then we touch our mouth, nose, eyes....you get the point. Wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds and wash them often. It's a simple thing to do. Then, hope for the best. We are all in this together.

Anyone know any more info on the school closing in Fort? It was breaking news on channel 15 tonight at 8:00. One Elementary school is closed until next week Monday due to a probable H1N1 virus in a student. Any more info would be appreciated.

Wash your hands and don't go to work if your not feeling well.
