No catch for Wis. governor during fishing opener
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Gov. Jim Doyle is going home empty-handed — again.
The governor kicked off Wisconsin’s fishing season Saturday on the Chippewa Flowage near Hayward in northern Wisconsin.
Spokesman Tim Stumm says he fished for an hour and a half to two hours but had no luck.
Stumm says it “was a beautiful day, nice weather but the fish just weren’t biting.”
Doyle caught a northern pike during his first opener in 2003 on Lake Namakagon in Cable. But he has been unsuccessful since then.
Still, he’s one fish ahead of former Gov. Tommy Thompson, who came up empty-handed in 14 openers.

It's called "FISHING" not "CATCHING". The idea is to be out there, enjoying nature, and being with friends and family. It's not about being a "photo op" for a politician.
Good thing he didn't catch anything. It leaves a fish for real fishers to catch.

Doyle is a terrible impersonator. He needs to go. Who cares if he caught a fish. He is a first class liar and jerk, just like the rest of our so-called elected officials. We are all being had. Wow, we are in real trouble.

Didn't they have a driver waiting underwater with a big one to stick on his hook?

I'm sure the time was well spent thinking up new ways to tax his subjects into submission
