Darien prosecutor resigns
DARIEN--The village of Darien prosecutor has resigned in apparent sympathy with the village’s fired police chief.
Delavan attorney Frank Lettenberger on Thursday sent a letter of resignation to newly elected village board President Evelyn Etten.
Lettenberger worked as the village prosecutor in the village municipal court. He served under two police chiefs for more than 10 years, according to the letter.
He urged the village to re-instate fired police Chief Steve DeVoy.

How many times must the Village ask Devoy to return Village property? One time should be plenty. I think a lot of people will be changing their minds when the hearing is held.

Everyone knows that it is BW,PP,GP and all the other good ole boys that have run this place into the ground in the last decade. Now they get some people in there to fix it and people like 2levelheaded do nothing but complain about them. From what I have been reading in the papers and the Internet, those e-mails where nothing but jokes that you me and everyone else get on their computors. People wake up, get rid of Danz, wenzel, Kaufenberg and Zipp and get your village back. This guy Maltese seems like a real moron too. Look out your windows and see whats happening to this village. As someone stated before, the gangbangers and drug dealers will be running it soon. Cause Maltese is to scared to do anything about them, OR maybe they are paying him off? hhhhmmmmm, didn't someone say he was buying a new house? Talk to any other police or Sherrifs and ask how well respected he is. For that matter ask a EMT or Fireman.

I can’t believe that a professional would involve himself in local politics. A public disclosure of his letter will have to affect his professional stature in all of Walworth County. I wonder if he has given any thought of how the public will review his lack of professionalism after DeVoy’s hearing?

BRAVO! Now to just get everyone else to realize what we all know!

Small town politics stink. “Special interests” can destroy a good place and sometimes do. Draw your own conclusions but I believe the good people of Darien will prevail. JMO

This isn't exactly a twist and turn. Simply one of many professionals that worked with Chief DeVoy on a routine basis. One that knows him as a person, an individual, and as a professional and completely disagrees with the firing and the overall handling of this situation. You can't believe the number of people that support Chief DeVoy and respect him for what he had done for the Village. This is just one example of someone that has decided to step up and say just that. Way to go Frank!!!
