Talking Monkey - Accidents can happen to anyone, no matter how focused you are and it wouldn't matter if the entire driving world had a CDL license. Why do you think they call them "ACCIDENTS." Being hyper focused will not stop someone else from hitting you. Paying attention and being focused is a good thing, don't get me wrong - but it's no guarantee that an accident won't happen.

Nothing to do with the snow but I am tired of people rolling stop signs and forcing me to react to their impatient stupidity.

I think My2cents has a testosterone problem & should have it checked before it gets him into trouble. its him & people like him that are the reason why so many wrecks happen on nights like last night. They have little to no respect for anyone else on the roads (except themselves of course). I passed one in the ditch this morning right after he whipped past me like i was standing still. I didn't stop to see if he needed to call anyone because I thought he needed to sit for a while & think about how he got where he was.. :)

Some people will pick a fight over anything won't they? 2CENTS you totally are a flake. Anger management classes are available....you should check into them, you obviously have issues with authority and have a need to express 'your rights'. I pray you find your peace.

We can go on and on, back and fourth but my thoughts and veiws are not gonna change. You guys may call me psycho but to me your a bunch of boring, lame and opionnated people that live your lifes in ah shell and are affraid to take chances. You could wake up on a beautiful sunny day and go PICK UP YOUR COPY OF THE GAZETTE and get hit by a car, or even worst get caught in the middle of a robbery at the gas station or bank and be killed. MY POINT is I don't live my life by the stats but by wakeing up everyday without fear to go and do something no matter what time of the year it is. So go ahead a make your comments and tell me I'm an idiot but you know what, the feeling is mutual. "Drive fast and take chances in life" or you can sit at waiting to die and wishing you lived ah little... And thats MY2CENTS

Funny how everyone has an opinion about everything ... I am going to respond to the comment by wiexguy ... one of the drivers in the accident was a RN who had just finished working his shift at Mercy Hospital - he called his daughter around 5:30pm to let her know the road conditions in WI as she and her mom were driving home after a Spring Break trip to Orlando...He was aware - he was cautious - his injuries were not able to be treated at the hospital he just finished working at . . .

Sorry to burst your bubble MY2CENTS but I was not out driving last night-you see, when you witness someone die you learn priorities. You also learn that despite taking every extra percaution to drive as safely as possible-you can not control everything going on around you.

Pink- So why were you out driving then? Should of listen to some know it all like WIEX. Oh and my fast ride last night playing in the snow went so well I'm gonna do it all over again today. I'm thinking about picking up ah newspaper, you need one? Anyway you do what you want and I'll do what I want. I have lived here my whole life and know the dangers of driving in the snow and thats why I am carefull. People die everyday and its never gonna change. When its your time to go its your time to go. You wanna live your life cooped up everytime it snows then have fun doing so, I'll be out and about. Ha-la-lu-ya Praise the lord

total focus, people, total focus. That's what it takes to avoid accidents.I bet if they made EVERYONE get a CDL, the roads would be safer due to the stringent testing required by federal law. Distractions KILL. KNOW your limits. Watch the road INTENTLY. KEEP your distance and most of all, FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS. Whether it's someone in the vehicle, or on the cell phone, or the radio, PAY ATTENTION.

If anyone is interested in the current driving conditions - I just got home from Sun Prairie,,,,, some people still have to work in this weather....
I90 to Edgerton is good - 60-70 mph safely...
Edgerton to Newville - one lane,,,, about 45-50 mph... Newville on to Janesville - better slow down... its icy.... and icy still even on Milton Ave in Janesville.... and this is coming from a cautious non 4-wheel driving Wisconsinite... thought I'd share in case anyone has to travel this am.

Thank you wiex-a voice of reason! It wasn't too long ago I was driving home from work in conditions just like last night. A Friday evening-I wasn't going fast by no means-another driver lost control of her car and came right in front of me and the impact from my vehicle killed her-right before my very eyes. Was it worth it for me to be out? Heck no! and I'm pretty sure her family feels the same...turns out she was delivering the Gazette on a motor route at the time. So MY2CENTS-DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME OR ANYONE ELSE IT IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS!! It's just not worth it!

How does anyone know that one of these persons weren't a doctor, nurse or emergency personnel? Accidents happen. Sometimes there are no avoiding them no matter how fast or slow you are going. So unless you witnessed this accident I'd keep your mouth shut on what happened and who caused what.

to my2cents, I just hope you dont injure others when driving. If I had a nickle for everytime I heard "I know how to drive, its the others" I could be retired a millionaire... and I dont care how long you have been driving. Common sense tells one to stay off the roads when its bad. But common sense is not all that common, especially when weather is bad. I also subscribe to the Gazette to support it.. This abbreviated online version is free to all, but if the Gazette ceases to exist because they cant pay their employees, do you think this online version will still be available??

SarahB1,I know the feeling. If I had not been watching out today as I always do, I encountered a speeding pickup truck loaded with furniture barreling through a yellow light that was turning red! I almost was "smuck"! People need to obey traffic lights! Come on people, Slow down and live!

I had bowling in Delavan and came home on m and mm just to avoid the other cars. at around 9ish 14 was still closed as there was more traffic on mm and I could see the lights and cops blocking the roads yet. Funny I have lived here long enough that this weather doesn't bother me and I know how my vehicle reacts. Also being that we get weather like this and oh ya it snows in WI. I buy trucks with 4 wheel drive.

wiex-Lets get one thing straight. You ain't my daddy and you don't pay my car payment. So until you get the DNA results and start paing up don't tell me or anyone else that they shouldn't be out driving. Most people who are out driving have been doing it along time here in wisconsin "Yes wisconsin, you know, where it snows and freezes every year. Oh and just woundering why you get the paper delivered but read it on the net? I don't think anyone should read the paper on the net. Only cheap people should be reading the paper on the net...LoL i'm borred. I think I'm gonna go for along fast ride in the truck.

I came home from Janesville on John Paul Road and was amazed how little some drivers remembered how to drive on ice-slick roads - and like giving other drivers the right-of-way when you have a stop sign.

That's the obvious, but people obviously are driving like it's the first snowfall. I had many a people pass me out by walmart when it was already started. I was doing about 20 and was watching all kinds of people going wack on that 'surface' street that runs from WalMart down past Staples and stuff.
