City plans flooding meeting for Friday
The city of Janesville will hold an informational meeting for businesses and residents located along the Rock River at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the council chambers of the Municipal Building, 18 N. Jackson St.
The purpose of the meeting will be to share information about the high water levels and potential impacts and provide citizens an opportunity to ask questions. The meeting will focus on properties located in the Mole & Sadler's subdivision, along Main Street in downtown Janesville and other riverfront properties that may be affected.
Staff will be contacting property owners in these areas to inform them of the meeting. For questions, call the city manager’s office at 755-3177.

I think the city needs to decide where to put all the snow from the city instead of in a flood plain like Dawson Field.

miyata, the levels made it as far as the baseball diamond, but because of how the sewer system was affected by the flooding, parts of the main level of the school did flood...

booch11, read it again, Of course it is above flood stage. Iam saying it should have been sand bagged long before this, and then something done for future years.

oldtimer:
you said, "there is no reason for traxler park to be flooded."
well, the rock river above flood stage might be one reason.

Maybe, just maybe, the city should have thought about this before hand? Just a thought to ponder on......

This should have been done months ago, Rock River along Traxler park (to began with) should have been sand bagged long ago and then something permanent with the stimulus money. Why is it that Fargo ND turned out thousand of volunteers some from as far away as 200 miles. And there are citzens here that would be willing to help but we have to have some leadership. THERE IS NO REASON FOR TRAXLER PARK TO BE FLOODED.

You know, the Gazette said "maybe" in the very first sentence of that article. It also said "But if we get 1.5 to 2 inches of rain, river levels could start to edge up again." Since that article was published -- Monday -- we've gotten up to 3 inches of rain.
