BRODHEAD—The arrest of a rural Brodhead man during a traffic stop has led to a methamphetamine investigation, Brodhead police said in a news release this morning.

Police stopped Roy Van Brocklin, 32, in the 200 block of Ninth St., Brodhead, at about 3 p.m. on Friday and later arrested him on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of materials used to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of waste as a result of the production of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances, operating while intoxicated and several traffic charges.

Van Brocklin is in the Green County Jail.

The Green County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation and agents from the State Line Narcotics Team are assisting in the investigation. Federal authorities also responded to take custody of the suspected hazardous materials.

All I will say is this is bad karma not so much brought on by Roy, but his family.

If you knew Roy then you would know the whole story so obviously you don't know Roy too well. This is not a funny matter at all if you know him or not. I feel bad for Roy for knowing you jp76

Its morons like you jp76, that make everyone else look more intelligent. I also know Roy. He needs help more than pity or slander. He would also admit he has made some very bad decisions. Unlike you, however, I believe Roy has many redeeming qualities.

I know Roy too, though not very proud of that, and I can honestly say that yes this is funny.

Thankfully the police weren't injured in the arrest. I wonder if there was enough meth manufacturing materials for them to call the DEA. That stuff is nothing to mess with and very hard to dispose of.

nurse4u-I'm a little confused by your response to my post. That was my whole point. He thankfully got busted. My post was in response to those that feel the war on drugs is worthless and drugs should be legalized.

Some meth labs smell like cat pee so if there's a nasty cat-pee odor coming from somewhere...or someone you are around smells like it...call the authorities. One meth house I was in had about 100 cats to "hide" the reason for the smell. I attended a training by one of the top meth researchers and saw what it can do first hand so believe me when I say that this is a drug we DO NOT want in our community. Yes, other drugs are addictive and cause damage but meth can be devastating beyond belief.
Here's a great link for recognizing a meth lab near you.

Law enforcement can bust as many drug shipments, drug houses and clandestine labs as they want to but they will NEVER put a dent in the demand for drugs. What we are seeing is law enforcement using the excuse of drugs to intrude into our lives as never before. The solution to the drug problem is legalization but the drug dealers and cops and private prison systems don't want that because it would ruin a sweet deal. Drug users are vulnerable and easy targets for cops and they ensure more jobs and lots of overtime and grant cops the right to stick their noses into our lives with impunity. Just watch an episode of cops and see how the ignorant cops violate the rights of citizens time after time. When are we going to wake up? How many million Americans are we going to allow them to l;ock up for decades? Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com

Glad they got him. There are drugs behind everything, yk? It sucks.

I would challenge everyone complaining about the drug problem to report any known drug problem they know about. More tips would certainly help the cops get their job done, don't you think?

yes it is addicting so is heroin/coke/crack/alcohol/percocet/vicodin/opium/all opiates/methadone should we go on? it is that some are prescribed and addicts think that it makes it ok to abuse the scripts.A drug is a drug and they need to get more like him and rid the likes of them. I am glad they got him but how many more are still in the background?

Meth is possibly the WORST drug there is. I learned a lot about it when the area I lived in had a bad problem with it. Knew one woman (once a good mom) who abandoned her husband and small children for it and a man who a year after he quit was still experiencing horrible esophagael pain and mental health issues (suicidal and homicidal thoughts). It causes terrible paranoia and a whole host of physical and mental issues and is VERY VERY addictive. Let's hope it doesn't gain a strong foothold in this area, it can be very devastating.

Where do you think this country would be if the Government did nothing, the money spent no matter what people think is well spent. This guy is just a pixel in a very large picture

Brodhead is a good place to raise kids. We moved here from Janesville so that my kid could go to a smaller school district. They have a good strong school district with plenty of city support. Is there a drug and alcohol problem. You bet, but it is also in any town you look at today. We just need to keep pushing school and law officials to keep on it.

Spark said, "He got busted didn't he? He's off the street before he killed someone right? Works for me."
~Spark, you do not know how many people he affected by providing them with meth. Meth is highly addictive and can cause many health problems and death down the road. It takes root and destroys families and people loose everything because of meth. Just because he may not have killed someone directly, he got the ball rolling. Who knows how many people whose lives will be altered either directly or indirectly because of this man's drugs...

Another sign of how good the war on drugs is doing us.
Well worth the 4,000,000,000 federal dollars spent so far this year...

Brodhead if a very small town with a big drug problem. I only know a handful of people from there and all of them have been in trouble with drugs. Its sad because brodhead could be a nice place to raise kids.

Oh but 'Rock County doesn't have a drug problem.'

This stuff is horrible. If this man was making this and something went wrong the lab could have blown up and killed who knows how many people. Sometimes its a little blow and sometimes its a big blow. Thankfully the police found him before he could make his next batch!
