Get out the galoshes: Rock River rising
A flood warning continues for the Rock River at Afton, according to the National Weather Service.
At 4:15 a.m. Friday, the water levels were at 9.6 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet.
The river will continue rising to near 10.3 feet and is expected to crest on Sunday evening.
At flood level, the waters start to affect the low spots on South River Road on the south side of Janesville.
At 10.4 feet, the river has reached the five-year flood stage.
The flood warning continues for the Rock River at Newville, as well. At 8 a.m. Friday the flood stage was 10.2 feet. Flood stage is 10 feet.
The river will continue to rise to 10.7 feet on Sunday evening. At 10.8 feet, floodwaters spread into the back yards in the Mallwood subdivision near Newville.

This isn't out of the ordinary, the river near Afton floods nearly every year. It's going to take significant rainfall in the next month or two to get flood waters anywhere even close to where they were last year. The more the frost melts, the more water will be able to percolate into the ground and the less runoff directly into rivers and streams. There's no reason to worry at this point

Well none of you obviously flooded last year and don't realize how scarry this is - do you realize our homes are note even fixed yet.
