Flash flood watch issued
The National Weather issued a flash flood watch for southern Wisconsin on Sunday. Heavy rain forecast may switch to snow late Sunday afternoon or evening.
There is a chance for thunderstorms, especially in the southeast.
“The additional rainfall today will cause some rivers across southern Wisconsin to exceed bankfull and flood stage during this period,” the National Weather Service warns.
Turtle Creek at Carvers Rock Road near Clinton reached 6.44 feet Sunday afternoon, nearly half a foot over bankfull, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's Web site.
A flood warning issued earlier continues for the Sugar River at Brodhead. The Sugar River measured 3.3 feet this morning. Flood stage is 5 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Monday at midnight and to 6.5 feet sometime Tuesday.
The Rock County forecast for Sunday calls for rain changing to rain, snow or sleet after 4 p.m. and before 10 pm. with thunder possible.
The Rock River gauge at Afton peaked at about 7.7 feet Sunday. Flood stage is 9 feet.
Another low pressure center will pass through Wisconsin on Tuesday, aggravating any flooding that may be taking place, the weather service said.

Milton, bankfull and bank-full are equivalent. It does appear that the NWS prefers no hyphen, though.

Too bad "bankfull" isn't applicable to our current financial crises.

Bankfull, no hyphen. Occurs roughly every 1.5 years in most streams, so it's not all that uncommon.

It's actually BANK-FULL. The NWS advisories are updated frequently and do tend to have typos.
