MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The first trailer for "Public Enemies" available online shows brief glimpses of the Wisconsin state Capitol and other places where the Johnny Depp movie was filmed last year.

A press conference scene shot outside the Capitol in Madison showing FBI director J. Edgar Hoover declaring a war on crime is included. Many of the extras in the scene work in the Capitol.

Also shown is another scene shot inside the Capitol with Christian Bale who plays FBI agent Melvin Purvis and Billy Crudup who plays Hoover.

Scenes that appear to have been shot in Columbus, the Milwaukee County Historical Society and Manitowish Waters are also in the trailer.

The film opens July 1.

Take a drive up to Manitowish Waters and check out Little Bohemia (it's still there). There are still bullet holes in the walls and windows of the dining room from Purvis' ill-fated ambush. Also, the personal effects that Dillinger left behind are on display there.
.
Oh, and they sell good whiskey in the bar there, too.

mark707: I will read this book. Your statement, "This is far better than any fiction and is thoroughly documented." is what piqued my interest. Thank you.

I highly recommend that you read Brian Burrough's book of the same name before you see the movie.
I bought this book only to read about the Dillinger Gang's shootout with the
G-Men at Little Bohemia Resort in Northern Wisconsin. I started at Chapter One
to get a sense of place and time, intending to skip to the part I was interested in.
Didn't happen! The entire book is so interesting and action filled, it read like a "thriller" and there was no way I could skip even one page. Imagine, the Dillinger shootout took place during the final two days of Bonnie and Clyde's adventures.
Meanwhile, "Baby Face" Nelson, the Barrows Gang, "Pretty Boy" Floyd
and all the other "Public Enemies" were running around all over the country and
being pursued by J. Edger Hoover's G-men.
This is far better than any fiction and is thoroughly documented. Real people doing amazing things...while the "bad guys" are robbing banks and sleeping in their (often stolen) cars. Best book I have read in some time!
