Rhythm & Booms postponed because of weather fears
MADISON — The threat of severe weather has prompted the organizers of the Rhythm and Booms fireworks display in Madison to reschedule the event from Saturday night to Sunday.
The organizers say all the music stages, carnival rides, events and concessions will be Sunday instead of Saturday. The fireworks display will start at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Deb McCue, vice president of the Madison Fireworks Fund, says the organizers couldn’t take the risk of having a huge crowd at Warner park if storms roll in.
The National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Sunday in Madison.

rythym and booms was cancelled in 2004, 2006, and 2009 due to weather "fears" only in 2006 did it rain and only for about 20 min, in 2004 it was posponed due to a wet field from rain earlier in the day. There were no severe storms in madison yesterday

I don't see any articles anywhere about severe storms in the Madison area last night. Yet another needlessly cancelled event due to an errant weather forecast. And just think, the U.S. Congress is about to pass a huge energy tax due to yet another probably false weather report! What a world!

Ozz: in the last 10 years, I can only remember Rhythm & Booms being postponed once. And within about 30 minutes of making that announcement, it poured and stormed--complete with tornado sirens!
I will not go in to Warner Park anymore though. It has gotten pretty "rough" the last few years.

Will they need to close the interstate with the new barricades for the weather? :)
Katie, I think the Freedom Fest ones are still on. Dont think they'll shut it down unless it starts storming. Being its a smaller event and people are real close to their vehicles or the church they can get into shelter quickly. Rythym and Booms is out in the open and no place for that many people to go.
Problem with a sunday display is most people have to work monday. Last Rythym and Booms I was at, show was over at about 10:30 and didnt get back to the car until 12:30am (parked at MATC and rode the shuttle buses they had running). Then traffic was a nightmare and didnt get home until 3:30am.

"FEAR" seems a little over-hyped...maybe "concern" would be more appropriate.
