Part-timers will clean schools. Janesville School Board decides
JANESVILLE – The Janesville School Board voted Tuesday to hire part-time workers to help clean the newly expanded high schools.
The administration had asked for new custodians to cover six eight-hour shifts each day, three shifts at each of the two high schools. The board gave approval for enough part-timers to cover those shifts. The administration had wanted two of the new custodians to be full-time workers.
The vote came after lengthy discussion in which the board rejected an alternative proposal from board member Bill Sodemann. Sodemann suggested soliciting proposals from private companies to do the work.
