Marathon County Police: Drowning victim had been drinking
WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department says a 23-year-old man who had been drinking tried to swim across a lake near Wausau and drowned.
The sheriff’s department says Vattana Sayasavanh went under water as he tried to swim across Sunny Vale Lake Saturday about 7 p.m. Several people dove in to rescue him.
The sheriff’s department says the man was under water about two minutes before four people pulled him to shore but efforts to revive him failed.
A friend told investigators that Sayasavanh had been jumping off rocks at the Dells of the Eau Claire earlier in the day.

You people are unbelievable! He wasn't driving or otherwise endangering anyone else. This is a tragedy! I don't care if he drank a gallon of moonshine - respect the victim's survivors.

Perhaps, according to the comments, even if one so much as trips on a stone, and falls and hits their head, and dies....it should be blamed on the evils of alcohol if they so much as even sniffed the cap.

How is woodsman's comment "ignorant"? It's a well known fact that when people drink, the more likely they are to do stupid things that can lead to death. The sad part of the story is that friends let him do it.

ley leostime..everybody has the right to their opinion. Yes, I feel for his family, but woodsman is right, it is an accident waiting to happen. Unfortunately, it did happen this time.
