Are you kidding Dr. Talk? You're saying that only Democrats do the "tax shift" shuffle? To not include Republicans in your assessment makes you either a fool or so partisan that you're oblivious to the truth. That's what makes this budget process so frustrating, neither party will actually make the spending cuts necessary to effectively reduce our OVERALL tax burden. Instead of general cuts across the board, I would much rather governments (both on the local and federal level) provide us (the taxpayers) a table that itemizes each expense in conjunction with the corresponding stream of revenue (tax dollars, investments, fees, etc) that fund each expense. Some data is out there but its difficult to find (even with the internet) and often contains incomplete information. Taxes are necessary to provide goods and services the private sector refuses to offer. I believe clean parks, good schools, public safety, helping those in need etc., are important aspects for the general standard of living and care most Americans value. Too often funding for vital services are cut to reduce taxes which simply forces a tax increase elsewhere. Meanwhile the party in charge claims a tax reduction. A law should be passed which prevents ANY administration from taking money allocated for a specific purpose and spending it somewhere else.

The Democrats want to make it look like they don't want to raise taxes. What Democrats always end up doing is a tax shift. They'll cut one tax only to make up the difference in other taxes and fees.

Wow, nothing gets by any of these enlightened bloggers. Look at all those comments about how great the Democrats are for standing up for us common folk to eliminate a new... hey wait a minute. How come everyone is still whining and complaining. Suddenly eliminating a new tax isn't good enough. Besides the illegal immigration issue doesn't seem to be a big deal to the mindless Republicans. What was their big plan on illegal immigration? Oh that's right, NOTHING! They are afraid they'll lose their cheap labor force. I think I'll just keep celebrating the fact our taxes might not go up 4 more cents!

What's crazy talk in America is giving government issued identification and driving privilege cards to illegal aliens who have so little respect for our laws that they smuggle themselves into our country, lie about who they are or their illegal status to get jobs, obtain cars and drive them on public roads for which they contributed not one penny.

You know, EVERY TIME that the Assembly and Senate pass different versions of a bill, they have to meet to reconcile them. EVERY TIME. The Governor can't sign two different versions of a law.

I'm not sure what difference being an illegal alien makes to whether you have insurance or not. Wisconsin does not require it of citizens. Personally, I think it's better that since we have illegal aliens already on our roads, they get driver's licenses and demonstrate that they can read road signs and understand the right of way, but that's apparently just crazy talk in modern America.
