MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Jim Doyle says he disagrees with a couple of the major state budget revisions being pushed by Senate Democrats.

Doyle said Wednesday he favors keeping a new tax on oil companies as he introduced. Senate Democrats want to eliminate it and the Assembly’s version allows oil companies to pass the tax along to consumers at the pump up to 4.4 cents a gallon.

Doyle says he also disagrees with the Senate’s plan to increase capital gains taxes more than he proposed.

But Doyle says his focus is on seeing the Senate quickly pass the budget and start negotiating with Assembly leaders on a compromise.

The Senate is expected to pass the budget Wednesday.

"supports sticking it to the taxpayers"

I believe those were Tommy Thompsons exact words in reference to the tax to fund the building of Miller park.

Amazing how screwing the taxpayer is a non-partisan gubernatorial event.

Funny how when Diamond Jim was touting his "oil company franchise fee" several months ago it was touted as "taking it to those big oil companies", and now we've finally pulled the mask off to reveal it for the tax that it actually was all along, yet still, the same governor, who less than 5 days ago publicly touted himself as being a defender of the middle class, still supports sticking it to the taxpayers. Any of you folks out there who voted for this clown experiencing some buyers remorse?

Well first Doyle should not be re-elected but then again people have short term memory loss. You can screw us in June and we will not remember it come November. And Thompson did at least one thing right he forced the welfare people to work for their checks. Something that Clinton used as a model for the feds. And how long will it take to p%$$ away the stimulas money......its gone

Doyle: "My tax increases are better. How dare you take out my gas tax"

State Senate Democrats "No, our tax increases are better. We need to increase the taxes on evil Capital Gains"

Wisconsin Taxpayers: "How much farther to the border?" "Daddy, what will out new house in (fill in new state here) look like?" "We called all the moving companies but they were busy moving business accounts out of state. Thank god for U-Haul"

Well, Opinionsforfree - I wouldn't count on that.... Wisconsonites have this pecular habit of voting their abusers back into office over and over again. Strange disorder indeed. Perhaps rehab is needed?

What a difference a week makes. Last week's article in the Gazette reported: MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan said Tuesday he does not expect Democrats to propose major changes to the state budget.
