Monroe softball team reaches state title game
Monroe High School’s softball team is back in a familiar spot, giving the Cheesemakers a chance to make up for lost time. The Badger South champions slipped past Port Washington, 2-1, Friday night at Goodman Diamond in Madison to reach the WIAA Division 2 state finals for the fourth time in seven years. Monroe was the state runner-up to New Berlin Eisenhower last year and will get another shot at its first title since 2003 when the Cheesemakers (20-9) take on Luxemburg-Casco (17-12) at 3 p.m. today.
