MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison police say two 16-year-olds have been arrested in a fatal shooting on the city's west side.

They are being held in the Dane County Jail for the death of 17-year-old Karamee Collins of Madison. He was shot and killed Tuesday night. Police say Collins — a student at Memorial High School — was apparently targeted.

A third teen was arrested for possessing a firearm.

The victim's father, Karamee Collins Sr., says he believes the shooting of his son was retaliation for a fight. Court records show the victim got into a neighborhood fight with another student from his high school in February. He was charged with battery.

Thank you Andrew Jackson you said it well... Again I will repeat alittle of what he said cause it goes to me also... I NEVER said anything about how much the Family is worth, makes in a week, what they do for a living, or even skin color... THAT IS ALL YOU Melstew!!
I know plenty of kids that had rich parents and they still did drugs, I went to Craig... Again it has nothing to do with what the parents make for money, it had to do with the PARENTING SKILLS...

melstew47, Don't get aggravated at me for your lack of reading skills. I said nothing of the 4th ward, I said nothing of people of color, I said nothing of people's income. As a matter of fact I've judged no one. I'll say it again, "Once you have decided to have children, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to raise them to be productive adults". Not me, not your neighbor, not Joe Blow the ragman. You. If you think that there is any possibility that you won't be able to do it, don't burden society with your poor choices..

no skidds i do not have one of these bad kids, my children are all grown, and have moved on.but i still think its awful that people have to clasify people by how poor they are and where they live and go to school.and i guess im always tired of hearing that its the parents fault, and in alot of cases its not.there are alot of fine prominant people, whose children get into plenty of trouble and some real bad,but you never hear of it or it quietly disappears due to the money they have or who they know.as far as those two boys are concerned they should be tried as adults and spend life in prison.so for answers about if obama raised these boys, none of us would know how they were going to turn out,as for my parenting skills i took responibility for everything they did, when children get into trouble, generally its no one fault except their own, and yes i do realize alot of parents blame others for their kids actions, an that is very wrong.we as a so ciety can not go around continually blaming parents for all actions that are done by their children,it would be wrong and it is wrong.you have a nice day skidds

Wow melstew I take it you had one of these bad kids and don't want to admit that it was your parenting skills???
Argue me wrong on this....
Take President Obama's kids when they were born and give them to the parents of the kids that did the shootings...
Now the kids that did the shooting, take them and give them to Obama when they were born... I bet Obama doesn't raise a bunch of drive by shooters. Why CAUSE OF PARENTING!!!! Not cause of who the kid is... I just wish everyone would realize you are only a product of your enviroment. You are not yourself. You are only what you were raised to be. If you were born here in a Christian family you would be raised to be a Christian and probaly believe Christian beliefs... If you were taken at birth and given to Muslims, you would probaly be raised to believe Muslims beliefs and you probably WOULD believe them... So again how is it not the parents fault? I mean if the kid is bad then its not the parents fault it's always someone else like friends, or school, or tv, or video games.... But when the kid does GREAT and gets A's or makes something of themselfs, you parents are SO quick to say "Ya thats MY boy" and are quick to take responsiblilty for the way your kid was raised...

JACKSON&SKIDDS,you both dont have any idea what your talking about!there are alot of good kids and smart kids that live in the fourth ward and their parents are good hard working people.sometimes no matter how hard parents try they have no luck with their kids, and as for discipline HA!our society has made that almost in possible. As for the comment about the smart kids with the 4.0 gpa's,well let me tell you something mr. know it all,do you realize how many of those goody two shoes are heroin addicts? and i suppose you go to their parents homes and thats what their doing too? hmm, i dont think so.you think that just because kids are poor and live in bad neighbor hoods their all bad,I think not.And i suppose its always people of color who get into trouble, and are gang members, and supply all the drugs to our communities.people like you should know what youre talking about before you judge so harshly.for those of you who i offended with this post i apologize, but not to you two.you are mean.

Andrew Jackson you couldn't be more right... Go down in the ward... Look at the ones that are acting like they are in a "gang" or "thug" and then go look at their parents and see how they raised them or disciplin them..
Then go into Craig find the extremly smart kids 4.0+ and go look at how their parents raised them. Hmm....Hmm....

To the parents of the two 16 year olds charged, and it can't be ANY easier than this,"You reap what you sow". I'm awfully tired of hearing "my poor boys". YOU had them, YOU raise them!

It's pretty sad that nobody leaves a comment regarding this article. Everyone has an opinion about everything else. My condolences go out to the young man killed. Such sadness to hear about another young persons life being taken for something so silly.
