MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two dozen Department of Natural Resources service centers would remain open under action taken late Tuesday night by Assembly Democrats.

Speaker Mike Sheridan's spokeswoman Becky Sweeney says Democrats voted to keep the centers open despite the decision by the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee to close them.

Assembly Democrats will continue meeting Wednesday to discuss changes they want to make to the budget before the full Assembly takes it up on Thursday.

Sweeney says they also voted to remove a change in the budget that outdoor sports organizations argued would make it more difficult to hunt, fish and trap on stewardship land. Sweeney says Democrats also voted to change a budget provision related to property tax exemptions for certain low-income and senior housing.

Everyone in Madison should be ashamed of this budget. Is there anything that did not escape being taxed? And we keep voting for these idiots over and over again. This includes the governor who is evern more of an idiot than rest. Of course they are democrats who never saw a tax they did not like. It will be interesting to see whats left of our state and country after these tax and spend liberals get through with it.Get them all out of there or at least put term limits in place.

Finishing by July 1 shows no leadership skill. Cutting expenses, not raising taxes and getting the non-budget legislation out of there would be a start.

The Dems have to show they can lead. So that means they have to have this thing wrapped up by July 1.

There are numerous things in this budget proposal that don't belong in a financial document. Frustrating to say the least. Remember the fiasco the last budget process was? I wonder if we'll see more of the same this time?

How about his homage to trial lawyers? It has no business in a budget and that provision HAS to be removed.
