Janesville firefighters were called to a house fire in the 400 block of north Chatham Street at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday.

A fire commander on scene said there was smoke visible from the upper windows of the house, 462 N. Chatham St., when trucks arrived. The first crew was able to contain and extinguish the fire shortly after.

Neighbors and two residents stood across the street as firefighters and Alliant power workers examined the house.

Three fire trucks and two ambulances were on the scene in addition to several police cars blocking traffic from entering the block. No one appeared to be injured.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Tuesday according to the commander.

Oh, and I do have a job! Just to clarify. I get quite a bit accomplished every single day, and most of those accomplishments involve loving and spending time with my boys....and that, my dear friend JANESBURG, is the best job a person could have~

My time that is free and that isn't is really my responsibility, and if I can fit in blogging on a site that obviously doesn't have a limit, that is my prerogative... Why so many bitter people? I am guessing that when a person who comes along like myself who can appreciate the diversity in all, and gets a bit upset when people try to pull rank, bitterness only gets worse. And that's OK, you continue as a lemon, and I will continue with my happy existence, and blog my way through the day all I see fit! :) And if typos are really important enough to disrupt your day, then I feel you have too much free time in your mind.

RummageSale - you have way too much free time on your hands. A professional paper should behave like one. Maybe you should get a job instead of spending all of your time on this site.

Must be nice to be perfect....you all should give yourself a pat on the back! Instead of these silly comments, why don't you volunteer your time to the Gazette as proof readers?? That would be much more proactive than what you are doing on here.
.
I am sorry that yet another house fire has taken place. Thank goodness all are safe, and hopefully not too much damage has occurred.

ljs64 - They were investigating it on Monday because they're very proactive.

How could: "the fire was still under investigation Monday according to the commander."

When the fire did not occur until Tuesday at 8:42 a.m. Hmmmmmm... Some good fire inspection work to investigate a fire on Monday that did not happen until Tuesday...Give them a raise.
