UPDATE: Storm warning issued
UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm warning area was over Lake Michigan and the extreme northeastern corner of Illinois as of 4:33 p.m. The thunderstorm watch was limited to Racine, Kenosha and Milwaukee counties and northern Illinois. Earlier Monday:
SULLIVAN -- The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for all of northern Rock County until 3:15 p.m. Monday.
At 3:08 p.m., radar indicated a strong thunderstorm 5 miles east of Whitewater, headed east at 30 mph. The storm is expected to be at East Troy by 3:30 p.m. and Potter Lake by 3:35 p.m.
At 2:51 p.m., radar indicated a strong thunderstorm 4 miles west of downtown Janesville, moving east at 35 mph, producing penny-sized hail and winds of 45 mph. The storm was expected to be at Emerald Grove and Johnstown Center by 3:10 p.m.
The warning area also includes parts of Jefferson County. A line of thunderstorms has developed along a line from Monroe to Lake Mills and is moving eastward at 35 mph.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of the rest of Rock County, Walworth County and the rest of southeastern Wisconsin until 7 p.m.
Another thunderstorm producing hail was spotted 6 miles northeast of Edgerton at 2:26 p.m. The storm was headed east at 35 mph. The storm was spotted near Fort Atkinson at 2:43 p.m.
The weather service advises that people take immediate action to protect life and property.
Severe thunderstorms can produce very heavy rain, lightning, hail and winds in excess of 60 mph.
The storm reportedly produced 1 inch of hail at Utica in Dane County.

We had hail in our yard (NE Janesville). Not a lot, but I saw some hopping in the grass and heard a few hit the windows.

BOO! I had to go get boy from school while it was raining around three, and by the time we got home the sun is shining and the skys are blue! No thunderboomers here. :(
