ST. CROIX FALLS, Wis. (AP) — A Minnesota man is dead after falling about 40 feet from a cliff along the St. Croix River on the Wisconsin-Minnesota border.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Department said 22-year-old Skylar Francisco of Roseville, Minn., was sitting on the edge of the cliff in a restricted area of Interstate Park when he fell as he talked with friends.

Officials said Francisco and five friends had gone to the park after hours.

The accident was reported at 1:14 a.m. Friday, and rescuers took Francisco to the St. Croix Regional Medical Center but he died from the injuries.
