The city is only paying for renovations for the ice arena we own. The city is NOT paying any of the operating costs of the team. Nobody has asked them to and I can't imagine them doing it.

It's one thing to be upset about an expenditure, but you don't need to exaggerate to make your point.

How much money should the city spend on this referendum you are proposing to name the hockey team, biggirl? BTW, the $225K isn't paying for a "new stadium." It's remodeling and repairing an old arena. Get you facts straight.

If the city is to pay for all of this, which the actions of the city suggests we will, then the city's population should vote on the team's name. Of course, we don't want democracy; thus we couldn't even vote on the allocation of this money by a referendum. I'd like a referendum to say the following, "We will pay 225,000 dollars for the new stadium for the hockey team with the full knowledge that the money will be made up in a reduce allocation for the schools and with the full knowledge that all profits will go to a private company rather than to the citizens of the city." (The figure could be more by now.)

I guess you would rather have another picture on the front page of a fence and a chain and false hopes. Must be a lack of news. Of course the Blue Angels and airshow stories were pick-me ups, but there was still multiple posters bitching about that too. GO HOCKEY TEAM! There's a lot of babies in this town. Get used to it.
