JANESVILLE--A water main break has closed the Southbound lanes of North Parker Drive between Sherman Avenue and East Memorial Drive, according to a city news release.

Southbound traffic is being routed around the closure on the east half of the divided highway. The repair work includes significant pavement removal and restoration and is expected to be completed (and all lanes open) within a week.

For questions, contact Senior Engineer Dennis Ryan at 755-3171.

That is because the curb and gutter got replaced today and the paving patch is being poured tomorrow at 6:30AM, followed by blacktop.

I called this water main break into dispatch last night (06-01-09) at 11:15 p.m. There was significant damage done to the roadway. I'm sure someone was addressing the issue shortly thereafter. The question is, why did it take so long to report on it if it created a significant detour for traffic??

I was told by city water office that this water main broke at 11 p.m. last night. I find it interesting to wake up this morning and have no water and yet, no news on WJVL or WCLO. Had to wait until it was fixed and then announcement came after noon??? Sponge bath this morning. It is now blocked off to repair street surface. The city crew worked all night to get this done.

This water main was broken at 1am this morning. I am sure this is to repair the road not the main.
