RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Free health clinics in 14 states are getting financial help from Dominion Resources Inc.

Richmond-based Dominion announced Tuesday that it's giving $1 million in grants to 100 clinics in states where it operates: Connecticut, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

The funding will be distributed generally in proportion to the number of Dominion workers in each state. The donations are being made through the Dominion Foundation.

Chairman, president and CEO Thomas F. Farrell II challenged other companies to do what they can to make sure health care is available to those who can't afford it and the uninsured.
