Obama plans visit to Green Bay
MADISON (AP) — President Barack Obama plans to visit Green Bay on June 11.
White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage said Monday that the president will be in Green Bay that day but she did not have other details about the visit. It would be Obama’s first trip to Wisconsin since the election.
He was a frequent visitor to the state throughout the 2008 campaign, including a stop in Green Bay.
On Thursday, Education Secretary Arne Duncan is scheduled to be at the Milwaukee Area Technical College with Gov. Jim Doyle to discuss educational opportunities for autoworkers and their families.
And on Friday Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will be with Doyle at the groundbreaking of a road project funded with stimulus money along Interstate 94 in Racine County.

Don't underestimate our friends on the right, BostonBill. I think it is very plausable that more than just a few are more than just a wee bit out of touch. And contrary to what Rush and his gang would have you believe, I really don't believe that God loves 'em all that much.

I know that most of the silly Republican Party bloggers here are just kidding because nobody could be that out of touch with reality. God love ‘em.

GM is no longer a car company, it is a jobs program.

Of course nobody wants to have huge deficits. He is spending money trying to help companies, (such as GM) thus saving jobs. The republican plan would have been to do nothing and see what happens. If that was the case maybe the country would be at 15% unemployment right now or more, and maybe no GM at all. Bush never vitoed a spending bill for at least the first 7 years.

The anger and blame expressed here is scary. I don't believe our president is to blame for our problems and I pray he can fix it. I would not want his job for any amount of money. I do think he should be given more then a few months to set things straight.

"I only wish that it required an IQ test to vote." Wow, I definately agree with that statement... too bad they didn't require that in the last two elections.
~
Case in point:
Ignorant angry bigots say they are educated about the "real issues" and then they use the President's middle name, (mispelled of course), to automatically label him as a "terrorist" or a "socialist." That's really getting down to those nitty-gritty political issues. Yep.

Put away your torches and pitchforks and give the guy a break.

Feingoldfan: I can't see why anyone would be happy that the Messiah is coming to Wisconsin. As far as I'm concerned he can stay as far away from us as possible...maybe stay overseas, since he is a citizen of the world. Someday you will all wake up with none of your God-given freedoms left. But then it will be too late.

He's only been President for 4 months and 2 weeks, everybody calm down...
'areyouevenlistening' - His middle name is spelled "Hussein". If you're going to be a fear monger, at least have the decency to use proper English...this is America, right? (Sarcasm).
The people of Green Bay are also suffering from job loss, and hard times - let's be happy he's coming to Wisconsin in the first place.
'NVgrf' - Yes, I agree with you, this didn't happen recently. It's taken us 8+ years to get here, don't expect some magic wand people.
We have a new driver to get this bus - that is a metaphor for our country - and it's not going to be easy to push out of the ditch.

areyouevenlistening, what were those "false promises of job security"? The closest he gets is saying "And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition [to clean energy manufacturing], that this plant will be here for another hundred years."

In any event, his speech was months before the credit crisis that brought GM to the brink. It was even before the collapse of Bear Stearns.

there will be pictures all over the news media about this I'm sure! People bowing down kissing his feet and other parts!! Barack Hussein Obama our new savior!!! Give me a break!! He hasn't done anything different than Bush except put us even deeper in debt than we've ever been in a 100 years!!! I don't like what Bush did either but Obama isn't doing any good for us! (Unless you like Socialism!)

Obama was elected in a landslide by Americans who were sick and tired of the Cheney/Bush gang overseeing things as our nation sank economically and in the eyes of the international community. GM entered the crapper under a Republican legislative and executive watch, not under the couple of years of Democratic congressional rule or a few months of a Democratic presidency. And yet the Republican pin heads and their revered leader, Rush Limbaugh, continue to blame the President for attempting extreme measures to deal with their monumental failures. They just don't get it. But then I am not sure that they ever will.

Ummmm, remeber the 50 BILLION taxpayer dollars he pledged to GM to prevent it's failure? Sounds like he's doing what he can with what he's got.
I think your issues should be with the former pin-heads that ran the whole industry into the ground.

President Obama must figure Green Bay is far enough away from Janesville (where he made all of his false promises of job security to the GM workers to get his vote)! He must think that being that far north, it's OK and safe to say HAHA! Hindsight is always 20/20 people, Thanks for electing him. (And Yes I voted and not for him). I did my research and read all of the issues of what the candidates planned on doing for us (or more to the point to us). I only wish that it required an IQ test to vote or at least A test to see what you knew about ALL of the issues! Look at whats happening so quickly!, Two auto manufacturing companies already in bankruptcy all of the banks and insurance companies owned by our government and so much more on the horizon! Our Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandchildren will be strapped with this debt and there grandkids will still be trying to get out from under it! Thank You Mr. President Barack "Hussain" Obama I guess our biggest "TERROR" threat is the one we elected.

Why is it that those with the least education are the most critical of the President? He was president of the Harvard Law Review and they can't write a sentence without misspelling a word.
