Wisconsin voters to get letters for verification
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — More than 100,000 Wisconsin residents will be receiving letters asking them to verify their voter information.
The Government Accountability Board says the letters it's sending are required by state and federal law under the 2002 Help America Vote Act.
Those who receive the letters are being asked to call the board because some part of their voter information does not match their driver's license or state identification card. Not responding to the letter will not affect a person's eligibility to vote.
Board director Kevin Kennedy says the letters an essential tool for protecting the accuracy of the voter lists.

Some letters might have gone out but the state election board, during the last election, declined to follow the law in respect to verifying names before the election...so having got a letter before the election did not do anything to enforce the law.

RetiredAirForce: Actually, these letters have been going out for at least more than a year. I received one last spring or summer.

No hurry here...start following the law that's already 6 years old, no need to follow the law BEFORE the election.
