Jul. 27--A masked robber shot and killed a 18-year-old restaurant worker Sunday night at a Kenosha drive-in, and his 43-year-old manager was shot, but treated and released from a local hospital.

Kenosha police identified the victim Monday afternoon as Robert W. Wilde, of Kenosha. According to police, two masked men entered the back door of Shirl’s Drive In Restaurant, 7943 Sheridan Road, on Sunday, just before the restaurant was about to close.

One robber had a gun and the other held a knife as they confronted the man and the male teen, according to a news release. They demanded cash.

The two men fled after the teenager and the manager were shot. Four female employees, ranging in age from 17 to 20, weren’t injured.

They caught the two Thursday morning, now this makes me wonder why you guys have not caught the story yet? It was on the NEWS today, yet nothing........ Come on your a NEWS paper!!!! Report the people some NEWS instead of Bartmann on ESPN or who won the singing contest at the fair, (the Tallan Latz story was probably the best story you had on the home page today) thats not front page news! A murder suspect or suspects being caught 23 year old Daniel Gonzalez and 28 year old Julian Miller were captured EARLY Thursday morning, Miller fled but was caught after being tasered IN THE FACE by police (side note when a suspect is resisting and running a taser is'nt always accurate)a manhunt with heliocopters was used in the sourthern part of Wisconsin (you did report this was going on in Wednesdays paper) before the two were caught, NOW THATS NEWS! Wake Up!!!!! Oh Well I have once again reported it for you!!!!!!! I'd work for you but I doubt you could afford me and PRINT IS A DEAD THING! Thats why we are all here.......... Oh and by the way~ YOUR WELCOME.........AGAIN!

The location in Kenosha goes by Shirl's Custard, on the sign and in directory listings, but the Waukegan and Zion locations are Shirl's Drive In. There does not appear to be a drive-through window. The headline seems correct enough.
.
It is enormously sad.

Shirls IS a drive-in. Old fashon ice-cream stand. They have the greatest cheese-cake icecream!

I have Been to Shirl's located in Kenosha on Sheridan road a few times. It is a small Ice Cream shop that serves soft serve Ice Cream and a few other treats. Shirl's has few tables outside and a few inside. It is lot like the Dairy Queen on East Racine St here in Janesville. I have always enjoyed going there as to me it was a great treat to stop in. It also seemed to be a really nice part of Kenosha, near Lake Michigan, south of downtown.

This is a terrible tragedy for the victims family and for the city of Kenosha as a whole. My prayers go out for the victims family, friends and neighbors. I am sure Robert will be missed dearly.

I wasn't confused at all; I think drive-in makes sense. But then I was concerned with the actual content of the story, not trying to jump on the 'bash the Gazette' bandwagon!

Not really. A&W is a drive-in and nobody gets confused.

I came here expecting to find a story about a theater employee being killed, not a fast food restaurant worker being robbed and murdered. I think the Gazette messed up this headline. Don't they mean, "Drive-THROUGH"???
