Plane flips on Brodhead runway while landing
BRODHEAD—A Tennessee pilot received minor injuries when his single-engine airplane flipped over on the runway while landing at the Brodhead Airport, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the sheriff’s news release:
A preliminary investigation shows the aircraft was landing just before noon Friday when the landing gear collapsed, causing the plane to overturn. The lone occupant, pilot William R. Fisher, 58, of Jackson, Tenn., received minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.
Damage resulted to the canopy, tail section, wing and landing gear of the aircraft.
The airport is located off of County T in Spring Grove Township, about a half-mile south of Brodhead.
Sheriff’s deputies and the Brodhead Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene.
Authorities notified the FAA by contacting the Rockford International Airport, which is routinely done when accidents of this nature occur.
