JANESVILLE--Eight hundred Alliant Energy customers are no longer without power since lightning blew out one of the circuits at the company's substation at 12:20 p.m. Thursday on the south side of the city, near the Avalon Road bypass, said Scott Reigstad, communications program manager.

The damaged circuit has been repaired and power was restored at 1:10 p.m., he said.

"Lightning was definitely the cause" of the outage, Reigstad said.

Only Vera's Bridal shop is still without power because of a separate lightning strike on equipment there, he said.
