The historic Hillmoor Golf Course in Lake Geneva was sold at a sheriff's auction Tuesday morning for $17 million to the bank that won a foreclosure action against its former owner.

Kennedy Funding, the New Jersey lender through which developer George Wight of Schaumburg, Ill., had a $23.2 million loan, was the sole bidder at the auction.

Nancy Johnson, the attorney representing the bank, said the sale must be confirmed by a judge before it becomes official. She said the bank plans to sell the property.
