A local man made it official Wednesday: He’s running against state Sen. Judy Robson in the 2010 elections.

Rick Richard, 42, of 2625 W. Highway 14 in Janesville Township, is running as a Republican.

The winner of the November 2010 election will represent the 15th Senate District, which comprises most of Rock County and the northwestern corner of Walworth County.

But has a serious lapse in employment as a nurse that would be quite easy to see.
-
It is obvious that you are not in human resources totellthetruth (not that i am currently) but to which higher education requirement for Doctors and CNA's do you refer?
-
One could argue that every field of employment should require this esteemed higher education to which you refer. The realization is that this in of itself will not produce a more capable workforce. You need an employer based learning requirement and who better to make that decision then the employer?
-
As you study this field outside of what you see on TV you will begin to understand that much like traditional skilled trades, only so much can be taught in a classroom. Yes even great surgeons bloom under the demanding guidance of a preceptor.
-
Your argument that Nurses require more schooling is skewed upon your limited understanding. Some of the best nurses I am acquainted with do not have gaps in employment, have a diverse work history and can name off the tops of their head the last 5 seminars attended and how they have incorporated that knowledge into their profession.
-
Hence the argument could be made that requiring more from nurses will do little more than raise health care costs as the out of school requirements become certainly higher. People lose sight of the fact that Nurses are not Doctors although many great doctors recognize the skill and knowledge of experienced Nurses. You are suggesting Nurses become practitioners. The difference is about 40k a year more.
-
Lets see you make a presentable argument to paying all Nurses $90,000 a year.

Well...it's been decades since Robson was a practicing nurse. Of course she's out of touch.

What I am saying is Robson has pretty much stopped all legislation requiring nurses to do CEU's or to actually work, to continue to renew their nursing license. WNA reported 4 or 5 years ago, as long as Robson is in the senate, legislation requiring nurses to work, get CEU's or have a pulse will not pass. Nurses now have have no requirement other than to pay a bi-annual renewal fee. We require Physicians, CNA's and practically everyone else in health care to maintain education to renew their license status. The only exception is nurses. Wisconsin is behind the time in requiring nurses to continue with basic educational needs. Yes, I agree MOST nurses take that responsibility and get further education, but those that do not are dangerous. There is no way for a new employer to know that a nurse has kept current. Robson needs to go from the senate IMHO. We need to move from the stone ages.

totellthetruth, MANY good nurses continue their education on their own through seminars in their respective fields and intense on the job learning. Ask any MD what they think of most nurses with 20+ years.
-
Or are you suggesting forcing an institutional setting for higher education?

Judy needs to go, she has been fighting against requiring nurses to have continued education for too long.

She was one of those people advocating for "change" last year...Well, anyone who has been serving in Madison since 1987 can hardly say they are bringing anything fresh to the table. It's Richard over Robson in 2010.

Glad to hear it although I do not have any idea who this man is. Judy has been entrenched for too long and will vote for any spending bill that ever comes her way. We need CHANGE
