The Janesville Police Department released a sketch Wednesday of a male suspect in the robbery of a local bank.

Mid America Bank, 2317 Milton Ave., was robbed around 4 p.m. on June 29. The unidentified man gave a bank teller a note demanding money and fled on foot with an undetermined amount.

The man did not display a weapon and the teller was not injured during the robbery. The bank provided photos of the suspect to the police department from surveillance cameras.

The department is continuing to investigate the robbery.

Evert bank I go into there are at least a dozen or so cameras pointing in every direction and from pretty much every angle. What is the point of having all these cameras if all that is ever released are still-pictuers taken from really high up looking directly down on the suspects head or sketches? It's a really good, detailed sketch but I think good, clear pictures are still better.

By the sketch he must somehow be connected to the Phalin clan.

Why is it? That whenever a bank, a liquor store, a "mini-mart", or a cash-advance store gets robbed, that they can never provide a clear and up close image of the suspect(s), taken from up close and personal via a surveillance camera? Seems like it would be a pretty good strategy to capture clear and definate images of the cowards that rob small-potato businesses. Or is this just a game people play to sucker the insurance companies out of more and more money?

Not to be negative, but no gun, just a note saying to give him money. I'd say maybe he needed to feed his family, pay his bills, keep a roof over the head. What ever the reason,no body got hurt! Maybe he was just getting his share of the S.money, that the banks aren't giving out fast enough, who knows. I'm sure when times get better he'll return the money, with interest!

"Mexican" is a nationality, not a race. Since we don't know who the suspect is, it's impossible to tell what his nationality is. He could be Dutch or Australian, for all we -- or the police -- know.

I gotta agree with Mentor... Why would it be so difficult to mount a camera at eye level at every teller window??? It only makes sence to me... but then again...

Again, this sketch would have been unnecessary had they put the cameras at useful angles and positions.

hopefully he doesn't shave his goatee so that it's not crooked anymore, thus making it impossible to catch him.
.
They should include a possible age of the suspect, and hair color and such since the picture is black and white.
