AAA: Gas price down 12 cents since last week
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin gasoline prices are down about 12 cents over the past week to an average of $2.48.
That's just below the national average of $2.53.
A survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express puts the statewide average Monday at $1.61 per gallon lower than last year at this time. In fact, the highest recorded average was July 17, 2008, when the statewide average gas price was $4.11.
AAA says the most expensive price for self-serve regular fuel is in the Eau Claire metro area where it's $2.55 a gallon. The lowest average can be found in the Madison metro area at $2.39.
The statewide average for diesel is $2.58, down from $4.76 a year ago.

It's amazing how prices were up leading into the holiday weekend even though demand stayed low. Now, we're getting back to a 'true' fuel price. I don't care what the politicians and oil companies say. Oil companies raise and lower prices at will as long as people keep filling up.
