PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (AP) — Another diver has died in Lake Michigan near Port Washington.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office says it received the distress call from a charter boat about 10:15 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead when the county rescue boat arrived back at the harbor.

The name of the 41-year-old Vernona man was not immediately released.

The sheriff’s office says he was one of 13 members of a diving club affiliated with the University of Wisconsin. They were diving on a shipwreck about 130 feet deep, about 5 miles southeast of Port Washington.

The diver and his partner entered the water about 10 a.m. and he started having difficulty breathing within several minutes of reaching the lake floor.

Another diver died a few miles away on June 25.
