JANESVILLE—Investigators say the deaths of a couple in their home north of Janesville appear to be accidental.

The bodies of a husband and wife were found in separate bedrooms at the residence, 4421 N. Polaris Parkway, on Tuesday night, according to a Rock County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The deceased were identified as Jeanne E. Carson, 80, and Perry D. Carson, 82.

There was a strong odor of vehicle exhaust in the residence, investigators said. A dead dog also was found in the home.

Capt. Todd Christiansen of the sheriff’s office said the house appeared to be in good order, and there was no indication that a crime had been committed.

This is a very sad story. The only good thing to say is at least they went together. I hope this family can find peace during this sad time.

rickwantsmoney, the CPSC has demonstrated how such a device would work for portable generators, but to date it seems there are no commercial products. At any rate, a home carbon monoxide detector costs as little as around $20. Everyone who has gas appliances or an attached garage should have one.

Someone needs to invent a gadget that can be attached to a car that will automatically shut the motor off if left running for more than a ten minute stretch when in park. Younger folks could buy these for their parents especially if they have a tendency to do such a thing.

BTW, they're laying three loved ones to rest. I bet their doggie was loved, too.

My husband's grandfather was always leaving his car running in his garage. Luckily it was not attached to the house. It is an unfortunate accident and I feel for the family members. What a tragedy!

Sounds too suspicious to be accidental. How can car exhaust in a house be accidental?
