Former Wis. lawmaker buys lobbying firm
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former Wisconsin Assembly Speaker John Gard and his wife have purchased a lobbying company.
Gard and his wife, Cate Zeuske (zoo' - ski) say they bought Wisconsin Independent Businesses Inc. from founders Tom and Nancy Dohm. The firm lobbies legislators on behalf of small businesses and farmers.
Gard and Zeuske say they also have bought a subisdiary, ExploreWisconsin.com, a shopping and Internet portal that specializes in Web site design, hosting and marketing.
Gard, a Republican from Peshtigo, served as speaker and co-chairman of the Legislature's powerful finance committee. He also made two unsuccessful runs for Congress.
Zeuske is a former state representative as well. She also worked as state treasurer and secretary of the Department of Revenue under former Gov. Tommy Thompson.

'Snot-nosed' Johnny Gard was born to be a lobbyist. He never cared about his constituants when he was in office, only lining his pockets. This will be a perfect job for him. Except, now he won't be able to collect the legislative stipend even though he had a residence in Sun Prairie where he stayed when legislature was in session. Crook.

I've said it before and I'm going to keep on saying it until people start getting it. Find out exactly who this guy starts lobbying for and severly restrict all commerce with them. It's our representatives job to come to us to find out what we want, not to be wined and dined by some part of a self-appointed "Ruling Class". Lobbyists add absolutely NOTHING of value to the process for the average person, not to mention what they have been costing us. It should be ILLEGAL for anyone who has been elected to a government post to EVER lobby said entity. PERIOD. And throw in term limits also!
