Wis. legislator had ticket dropped, but no more
MILWAUKEE (AP) — State Sen. Lena Taylor had a ticket for a traffic violation dropped by local police until Chief Edward Flynn reviewed the case.
Flynn had the Milwaukee Democrat's ticket reinstated after he returned from a trip to Washington, D.C., concluding the decision to drop it did not conform with department policy.
Officers ticketed Taylor for driving to the left of the center lane last Friday afternoon in downtown Milwaukee. They said she drove around a lineup of stopped rush-hour traffic, including two officers in their squad car, so she could make a left-hand turn into a driveway.
Taylor issued a statement saying she has accepted the citation and paid it.

Including the following, from Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn, about the acting captain and the rescinded ticket:
"She has been counseled regarding the appropriate application of the general order, which will be reissued to all Milwaukee Police personnel."
It would be interesting to read that memo. I'm glad the Police Chief doesn't kowtow to state politicians and that he appears to consider it a learning experience for the acting captain rather than something requiring disciplinary action.
More of Wisconsin's Democratic politicians should be ticketed for moving "left of center". ☺

Anyone who has ever met Ms. Taylor knows she's quite a piece of work.

It's OK to weave in your own lane, but not OK to weave around police officers.
