MADISON — State schools superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster is one of five candidates to be the next president of Nicolet College.

The names of the finalists was released Friday by the Rhinelander-based college’s board of trustees.

Burmaster announced last year that she would not seek a third term as superintendent. Her term ends on June 30. The term of the next president of the community college in Rhinelander starts July 1.

The other four finalists are Ray Nadolny, Kerry Youngblood, Jim Brown, and George Karling.

The board is expected to announce the next president in March. Current president Adrian Lorbetske earns $158,000 a year and is retiring at the end of June.

Nicolet describes itself as a public community college, offering one- and two-year career diplomas and degrees, liberal arts university transfer studies and a comprehensive continuing education program. Nicolet is under the general jurisdiction of the Wisconsin Technical College System.
