Powell leaves Brewers for Braves
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Bob Uecker will be getting a new partner in the Milwaukee Brewers' broadcast booth.
Play-by-play announcer Jim Powell is taking a broadcast job with the Atlanta Braves. Powell is from Georgia.
Powell joined Uecker in 1996. He began his Major League broadcasting career with the Minnesota Twins in a reserve role in 1993.
About 35 markets throughout Wisconsin and Michigan carry the Brewers broadcast.

it takes talent to do the broadcast solo. and if you listened to a brewers broadcast and you werent entertained well then you should go to ebay and see if anyones selling a sense of humor for cheap. powell will be missed as much as cc. ok maybe not quite that much...but still....

Ronny is a wonderful personality and I'll always admire him for his constant positive attitude about life given all he's been thru. Since he was the star of the first baseball team I followed when I was young, I'd even vote for him for the hall of fame. But be honest, he shouldn't be in the booth unless it was as a 3rd/occasional commentator.

Maybe now Brewer fans will get more game information such as score, count, etc. more often than every 3 innings. Too much dead time on Brewer broadcasts. Whoever is brought in will not match Pat Hughes and Ron Santo!

You might not like Pat and Ron as they call the Cubs games. I don't like listening to the Brewers due to the fact that Uecker basically works alone. There isn't any conversation or other analysis during the game. I'll take Pat and Ron any day!

Jim was no Pat Hughes but at times he was our only hope to find out what was actually going on with the game. Hope they find a good replacement. Thank goodness we're not subjected to Santo.

Bob Uecker will have to train another straight man again. Jim and his great voice will be missed.
