GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A former Green Bay bar owner whose customer got burned by flaming alcohol has been sentenced to four months in jail.

Thirty-two-year-old Adam Ward had pleaded no contest to injury by negligent use of fire for the October 2007 incident.

Prosecutors say Ward ignited alcohol to the Johnny Cash song "Ring of Fire." When he added more alcohol, the bottle shattered, showering Christina Peterson with flaming liquid.

She was burned on her face, neck and chest and has permanent scars.

Peterson told the court Friday that Ward was unsympathetic at the time and offered little help.

Ward told the judge the fire stunt was a "dumb, stupid bar trick." He apologized to Peterson, saying he’s spent many sleepless nights replaying that evening in his head.

thekid3477: A little off topic, but it's good to read that you weren't "on the bus", if you know what I mean.

It's a no win for either party. Adam had no malice but will do 4 months for a horrible decision. Christina will carry the scars.

cheesehead43: With all due respect, IMO, “Truth” didn’t give away any state secrets. If some knucklehead wants to do this type of thing, they can certainly find out how to do it on the internet.
.
Truth: I did get a chuckle out of your last sentence, “Err go, if you drink to much and hit yourself with a hammer, it will hurt.”
Truth be told.

If you light an alcohol like Bacardi 151 on fire, you can shake pepper in it and cause sparks. If you then add something cold (after a prolonged burn) the shot glass will crack or shatter.
If you super heat metal and then cool it too fast, it will also crack.
Err go, if you drink to much and hit yourself with a hammer, it will hurt.
