The Janesville School District's phones are not working.
Calls can be made in-house, but schools are not able to receive incoming calls, said Sheryl Miller, public information specialist. The district's phone provider is working on the problem, she added.

Bleed the taxpayers for upgrades to the schools and you can't call in and the computer system won't work? BRILLIANT!Makes you wonder what the kids are learning inside of those expensive walls.

MikeF - WHAT, take the phone away? Next thing you'll suggest to parents is to not let their munchkin get a tattoo or a nose ring. How cruel!

*Before the rest of you have a bird, this is called "tongue in cheek".

amused, if your daughter is texting in class, then you (as the parent) should tell her to stop. You stated that you want her paying attention in class instead of texting. If she doesn't stop, then you (again as the parent) should ... I don't know...maybe *GASP*... be the parent and take the phone away?

The BOE should immediately go into "closed session" to discuss hiring a consulting firm ($20,000) to do a nationwide search to find someone ($20,000) to come to JVL to fix the problem with the phones. Why should the BOE care how much it costs? It's only the public trough they're feeding from.

amused: You're kidding right??? It is the job of the teacher's at Craig to control texting from your child. The school has a policy of phones off, if your child is texting they are breaking a rule. Do you honestly think that while the teacher is instructing they have time to look under every desk in the room to see who has a phone on? NOT THEIR JOB! It is your job to make sure your children follow the rules. Do not sit and blame a teacher because your kid can't follow rules.

Yes, I want my child paying attention in class, not texting. My daughter sends 3,000 text messages a month. She can't do this all in her spare time! She has sent me messages from the classroom. Apparently there is no attempt to control this at Craig.

It is my understanding that cell phones are to be turned off during classes. Parents, do you want your kids paying attention to the class or their cell phones? Hopefully, the phone problem will be resolved soon and necessary calls can get through to the schools. I am sure this is frustrating for parents and staff!

Hmm....earlier this morning I saw someone looking very much like Tom Evert climbing down a telephone pole with some wire cutters in hand. I wonder if this is related to the phone problem for the school district.
