Local transit systems earn federal awards
From the WCLO newsroom:
Transit systems in the Rock Valley area are each enjoying an Award of Excellence from the federal government for having "zero findings" during a recent review.
Michelle Gavin, Beloit Director of Transit, says "findings" are considered problems or issues with the transit systems receiving federal funding. She says Beloit, Janesville and Rockford are each receiving praise from the Federal Transportation Administration after a triennial review of their operations. Federal officials scrutinize financial and maintenance records, grant information and perform an on-site check to determine if the transit systems have any problems.
Gavin says it's pretty remarkable that a cluster of transit systems has a spotless record. An FTA official told Gavin only four transit systems in the Midwest had "zero findings" ratings.

Great job! We should be proud to live in a community recognized for something positive. Although I don't usually like to toot my own horn, I am proud to say that rumor has it the main reason they received this recognition is that while the drivers are out on their routes, they tend to SLOW DOWN!
