New Year's Eve parties planned across Wis.
MADISON — Forget the much ballyhooed ball drop in Times Square on New Year's Eve.
Consider instead the lowering of the carp in Prairie du Chien or the cheese drop in Plymouth.
Those are just a couple of the homespun New Year's Eve celebrations planned across Wisconsin on Thursday night.
Fireworks are planned along the Mississippi Valley in La Crosse while in Egg Harbor a local stable is offering two-hour candlelight horse rides ending with a glass of champagne around the fireplace.
A swing band is on tap to ring in the New Year in Wausau while bluegrass, folk and blues is planned at a Washburn party and there's a Beatles tribute in Brookfield.
And for those willing to brave the elements, a ski resort in Portage has fireworks at 10 p.m. followed by skiing until midnight.

Happy new year Kid.
We went to Olive Garden at 5:30 and thought we would hit the old folks crowd. HAHA they were out at 4pm the waitress said. Waited an Hour to sit. In actuality it was only 45 minutes so not so bad. In bed by 10 pm. We watched the Hangover. Guess we are the OLD crowd haha.

I thought thekid3477 was referring to Midnight bowling. I spent all night checking out local lanes in Janesville and Beloit looking for him.

ughhh. why do people insist on showing off their ignorance. i mean REALLY. where in this thread do i say ANYTHING about my beliefs or why i use marijuana?? this is what i laugh at the most. you people bring up the convo more than i do. you insult me by insinuating that i havent grown up. you dont even know if i work, yet you think i need to grow up?? i mean REALLY?? how does one even compute this thought process?? it blows me away how many self absorbed, closed minded, stereotyping people there are in the world. i mean REALLY. i REALLY cannot fathom that thought process towards ANYONE and i thank (insert personal religous belief here) that i DONT have that thought process, and more so i am not going to teach that thought process to my kids. fyi i work between 45-50 hours a week. i pay a good chunk in child support and even though ive smoked pot 98% of the days in the last 4 and a half years i have NEVER missed a payment. EVERYONE in my life knows i smoke pot and EVERYONE in my life will tell you that it has no negative effect on how i live my life. if you would pay as close of attention as your fellow haters do you would have seen me post that my pot use for my pain is only temporary. if theres no pain i dont need it. if you think i dont need it for pain, then id ask you where you got your doctorate and ask why you take aspirin for a headache?? i appreciate any 'props' you feel you have given me, but the truth is that their false props cuz the second you dont like how the convo goes you try to grill me on my use. i do appreciate you giving me the unsolicited opportunity to spread the message just little further. im out. happy new year to all.

sahmama: why do you (insert personal favorite derogatory word here) haters insist on taking the time to tell me how much you loathe me?? do you even realize how juvenile it makes you look?? im not sayin my continuous pot posts are the most mature, but shnikes. you want me banned from the gazette simply because you dont like what i post?? did i insult anyone here??unlike yourself no. im guessin the gazette has no problem w me blogging...since they put me in their print edition for my beliefs AND POSTS. i made a joke that a few people enjoyed, and a few didnt. not the end of the world or even the day. i probably live off the state cuz i spend all my money on drugs?? lmao nice work. just in time to win the 'silliest closed minded completely uninformed statement of the year'!! woo hoo

Hey Kid back in the 50's no one ever heard of the first bowl at midnight. Everyone took there date to a dance and brought in the new year in a clean way. You should just try that once and you will end up with a clear head. It is amazing at all the beautiful air and view you will see with a clean head.
