AirTran to make Milw. its 2nd hub, joining Atlanta
MILWAUKEE (AP) — AirTran Airways says it will establish a secondary hub in Milwaukee, bringing at least 100 jobs to the area.
The discount carrier said Tuesday at least 50 pilots and 50 flight attendants will base their operations in Milwaukee. The move means the southeast Wisconsin city joins Atlanta as an AirTran hub.
AirTran is a subsidiary of Orlando, Fla.-based AirTran Holdings Inc. It says the Milwaukee hub will have more than 300 crew members by April.
AirTran Airways said earlier this month it expects to post record profit this year. An executive says the airline has been helped by its low-cost structure and strong growth in revenues for things like checked baggage.
Shares of AirTran Holdings dipped 8 cents, or 2 percent, to $5.12 in morning trading Tuesday

I love Air Tran. Just started flying them last year but I now try as hard as possible not to fly any other airline. My experiences have all been positive thus far. Flights seem to be on time or early everytime I fly AirTran, and the staff is professional and courteous. Best landings in the business to!

I've flown AirTran several times with good results. I do avoid connecting fights though, as I do with every airline. I fly 1-4 times a year, choosing the airline that offers the best options for the route I'm using. Airtran has offered several non-stop fights for a while, especially seasonally. I used to take connecting flights, if I could make the best of fare and schedule. But I've realized, for myself, that I am much more likely to have problems using connecting flights, for many reasons. Connections use 2 airports, 2 planes occasionally, sometimes 2 flight crews, another weather influence and WORST OF ALL - baggage is exposed to another move/ sorting.

AirTran is basically the same thing as any other no frills airline. I flew AirTran from Las Vegas to Milwaukee with no issues.

AirTran is our preferred airline. Only great experiences with them. Fired MidWest when they cancelled all flights 2 years ago becuase of lack of maitenence on their M-80 planes. Missed our trip to Las Vegas that weekend!

We have flown AirTran several times, with good results. Down side is checked bag fee, so SouthWest still beats that.
