CRANDON — The Forest County Sheriff’s Department says a Kaukauna man died after the vehicle he was driving fell through the ice on Lily Lake in Nashville Township.

Authorities say Daniel Arnoldussen was driving an off-road, side-by-side four-wheel vehicle on the lake Sunday afternoon when it went through the ice. His daughter, Megan, was a passenger.

Authorities say Daniel Arnoldussen kicked the window out as the vehicle was sinking and pushed his daughter to safety. He was pulled out of the water, and CPR was performed until rescue officials arrived.

Authorities say Arnoldussen was transported to the Langlade Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Arnoldussen’s age wasn’t immediately available.

Okay, I've seen them before, but it confused me when they referred to it as "side by side" 4-wheel vehicle.

However, can anyone tell me exactly what a "side-by-side four-wheel" vehicle is?? Just curious.

While driving on the ice at this time was foolish, I think it's important to remember the last thing he did was heroic.
He seems like he was a great man, from what this article says. Everyone does something stupid at some point.

pbrman He probably was or he was trying out his new toy and ,isn't a shame ! all it takes is experience and COMMON sense thats what is lacking. I have said this over and over people don't use their brain when it comes to outdoor activities on the ice! ask ,listen, observe and then make your choice.Or call a licensed fishing guide they will not put themselves or their clients in danger. They are experienced and have common sense.Prayers out to the family, what a horrible loss!!
