MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former school employee says he’ll ask the Wisconsin Supreme Court to review his claims that he faced discrimination when he was ordered to stop wearing a religious hat and ring. Fard Mohammed of Racine says he disagrees with an appeals court ruling last week that dismissed his case.

The court ruled no discrimination occurred because Mohammed kept wearing the black skullcap known as a kufi and “pilgrimage ring” despite the principal’s order to stop in 1998.

The principal told Mohammed that policy at Case High School in Racine prohibited those items as part of an initiative to control gangs.

The high court will have the discretion on whether to take the case.

Dress code is for EVERYone in the school. Adults, children, parents, visitors etc. I would have to ask one question--did this dress code exist when he started work there? Did he sign off on the employee handbook stating the policy? If so, then he needs to be held to that dress code. If he knew when he started what the dress code was then he needed to make the choice of staying employed there and following the code, challenging the policy then and getting a written statement excusing him from the code if the school so chose to, or getting employment elsewhere.

I hope he gets his way and wins the case, This will show us what direction this great country is going STRAIT TO HELL!! whats next the government telling us what God to pray to. If we dont start taking care of business we might as well start learning a different language.
Jesus Christ is my lord and I will defend him to any end

Keep religion where it belongs, in your home or place of worship.

Hey "sluggo"--Haven't you been paying attention? In the name of freedom FROM religion, we've stripped virtually all Christianity from the public schools. Why shouldn't that apply to Muslims as well?

Personally I don't think the Supreme Court will take this case.

Freedom of religion must not be part of the foundation of America anymore according to some of these comments. Nice.

He was an employee, not a student. Dress codes for gang attire should not apply to an adult.

What a waste of tax payer dollars! Rules are rules, if you don't like the rules, go work somewhere where you like the rules instead of breaking the rules and trying to tie up the US Court system!
