Brossard defense gets down to nuts and bolts
ELKHORN -- Attorney Charles Blumenfield got to the nuts and bolts of David Brossard’s defense this afternoon during testimony about the bolts and chain used to keep Dawn Brossard concealed underwater.
"I’m afraid it’s rather dry testimony," Blumenfield apologized as he questioned Keith Brossard, David’s brother and former owner of Action Marine in Burlington.
Keith Brossard examined the rusted chains investigators found wrapped around Dawn Brossard’s body when she was pulled from Geneva Lake in July 2003; prosecutors allege David Brossard would have had access to such chain while working at Action Marine.
Keith Brossard said it would be unlikely that the dog or "playground" chain investigators found would be used in his business.
"Using this type of chain would be like tying your boat to the dock with kite string," he said. "It’s not strong. It would rust. It’s not continuous link. It’s just a twist. It would pull apart."
