MILWAUKEE (AP) — One of the Milwaukee brothers accused of starting a $50 million fire has pleaded guilty, and his brother is expected to do the same next week.

Twenty-five-year-old Kurtis J. Popp and 23-year-old Joshua J. Popp are each charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Prosecutors say last month's fire at a meatpacking plant was sparked after Kurtis Popp fired a military flare that Joshua Popp gave him.

Online court records say Joshua Popp pleaded guilty Monday and will be sentenced Oct. 8.

Court records say Kurtis Popp was given an arraignment date of Sept. 1, when he is expected to plead guilty.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Both defense attorneys have said their clients regret what happened.
