Traffic blocked for injury crash on I-90
One lane has opened after Interstate 90/39 eastbound was completely shut down for an injury accident near Edgerton.
The one-vehicle accident and car fire happened at about 7:30 p.m. near mile marker 163 just south of the Rock-Dane County line, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Traffic remained backed up in the eastbound lanes for five or six miles at 9:30 p.m., a State Patrol spokeswoman said.
If you wish to take an alternate route, you can take Highway 51 south to Highway 59 to return to I-90.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene, the release says.

2 people were Air lifted out - 1 was lost there in the fire, the other we're unsure if they (he/she?) made it.
And here you people are complaining about the damn Traffic - those of you who cannot for the life of you no longer find it in your hearts to be courteous and respectful --- and even helpful. Even the emergency vehicles were NOT being allowed by those of you who were too concerned with losing your precious spot in line.
People died. Someone's Mom, Sister, Dad or Brother.
Why don't you friendly finger pointers think of THAT next time you find yourselves sitting in the I90 Parking lot???
This world and this country is a far far cry from where it ought to be, from where it was.
It's a disgusting shame.

As a "Flatlander" who has driven that I90 twice a week for the last 7 years, let me tell you about the Cheesehead inconsiderate drivers! I happened to be at mile marker 160 when I saw the smoke. I was near the beginning of the accident and in the left lane. I ended up letting in three Wisconsin plates who were in the right lane cutting me off. Do you think they even waved???? Drivers are drivers whether they are from Illions, Wisconin or the moon!

realitybytes - Regarding your first post, I have grappled with that question for many years, and have yet to come up with an answer.

I was also stuck on I90 for about an hour. There were lots of people out stretching their legs on the I90 parking lot. One of the people that walked down from closer to the accident seemed to indicate that the crash involved a fatality. The vehicle was certainly burned when we went by. Hopefully nobody was inside.

I was stuck in the mess from the accident. Thank you to the driver of the semi who so graciously blocked the left lane so that cars could no longer speed ahead of the others waiting and cut back over. One person (from Illinois) decided to cut in front of me. They then proceeded to drive onto the shoulder and almost got t-boned because they didn't look at the other car speeding down the shoulder.

Ya...anyone that travels on the "I" lacks intelligence..
Wouldn't it have paid off...as it usually does...to slow down and smell the roses....which means taking the scenic route?
BUT apparently now the norm is ....get there slow and take it fast...LOL.

Can't stand drivers like that. They're everywhere. I especially detest it when people drive like that through road construction areas. Some people just can't stand to let anyone else ahead of them. Always have to be the leaders of the pack.

The slowing traffic was a sign of problems. So was the billowing smoke from the car on fire. The truckers started to move into the left lane. Most other people started moving over. One group that seemed to think that they did NOT need to move over was....the flatlanders. Car after car with Illinois plates were inconsiderate enough to try to gain a couple of car lengths by staying in the right lane and then merging at the last moment. Even worse, they were actually using the right hand shoulder (which was needed for the emergency vehicles). Can somebody explain the lack of intelligence?
