Milton approves storm water utility
The Milton City Council approved a storm water utility Tuesday but set a fee 40 percent lower than earlier proposed.
Owners of single-family homes will pay $4.59 a month, $55 a year, for the utility starting in October. An earlier budget called for $7.69 a month or $92 a year.
The city is required to expand its storm water maintenance to comply with the federal Clean Water Act. It's moving storm water maintenance costs from property tax rolls to a utility so it can maintain other city services under levy limits, city officials said.
